With a lifelong passion for turf care and machinery, Peter started Middlewich Machinery at just 19 years old. He leads the business with expertise, hands-on experience, and a commitment to delivering top-notch service to landscape contractors, sports grounds, and professional gardeners.
Jemma
Parts Manager
Jemma ensures our customers get the right parts, at the right time. With an in-depth knowledge of groundcare machinery and components, she keeps the workshop and our clients’ fleets running efficiently.
Alex
Workshop Manager
Alex oversees our busy workshop, ensuring that repairs, servicing, and maintenance jobs are completed to the highest standards. His expertise keeps our customers’ equipment in peak condition.

From One Man and a Van to a Leading Groundcare Machinery Supplier
Meet Peter Hough – Founder & Director
Hi, I’m Peter Hough, the owner and director of Middlewich Machinery Ltd. I started this business at just 19 years old—armed with nothing but my van, my spanner, and my determination to build something from the ground up.
My passion for turf care and groundcare machinery has been with me from the start. I studied Land-Based Technology at Reaseheath College in Nantwich, which gave me a solid technical foundation. My first full-time role was with an agricultural and plant dealer, where I gained hands-on experience working with machinery in the field.
Then, I took a role at High Legh Golf Course in Knutsford, an 18-hole championship course and a 9-hole academy course. This was a turning point for me—I wasn’t just working on machinery anymore, I was deeply involved in the science of turf care and grounds maintenance. That’s when I was truly bitten by the turf care bug.
Following My Passion & Growing a National Customer Base
Starting out, I took on all kinds of agricultural and horticultural work, but my spare time was always spent on the golf course—first as a mechanic, then as a player. Just like in golf, great turf care requires dedication, expertise, and attention to detail. Over the years, I refined my skills, built strong relationships with clients, and developed a reputation for trusted, reliable service.
Expanding to Meet Growing Demand - A New Growth Phase & Customer-Focused Innovation
Now in 2025, Middlewich Machinery is entering another exciting phase of growth and customer-driven innovation. Over the years, we’ve listened to our customers, adapted to their needs, and implemented key changes to enhance our service and support. We’ve expanded our product range, improved our service response times, and introduced tailored support packages to better serve our customers. With an increasing demand for our high-quality machinery, servicing, and expertise, we are investing in our team, infrastructure, and customer experience. Together with our customers, we’ve grown, refined our processes, and strengthened our commitment to reliable service, expert guidance, and long-term partnerships.

Middlewich Machinery Expands Team to Accommodate a Growing Business
In 2022, our business went ahead and acquired County Power in Middlewich – a garden machinery business. This move allowed us to broaden our range of products and services and put us at the forefront of the ground care and garden machinery game. We’ve gained new customers, expanded our reach, and added some experienced mechanics to our team.
We have added new brands and products for our customers, making us an even stronger player in the grounds care industry.
